Still Progressing on Miss Merry Melody

Despite the fact that I haven’t blogged recently, Grace and I are progressing on Miss Merry Melody! This week, classes started, and I have been busy getting my schedule figured out. However, this weekend, I started my next design. I had finished my first design, for “Little April Shower,” and now I’m almost done with entry #2. Although I still have at least six designs still to complete, I am glad I am at least making some progress.

The design I’m working on now is for the song “Praise You in This Storm,” by Casting Crowns. The focal point of the design is the bottom half of the skirt. I gathered black and gray taffeta, and some gray interfacing. I sewed these in rows along the bottom of the skirt. They look like clouds swirling around her. Very cool. The interfacing is kind of a mottled gray color, and it really looks like clouds. Maybe this design will win!

After I finish my second design, I’m thinking I will begin work on my design that will be based on the Star Wars music from the Cantina. As I said in a previous post, that design will be inspired by those musicians with the big pink heads. We’ll see how that turns out!
