Design for a Cure and Miss Merry Melody Progress

I’m sitting here at the dining room table typing as my mom helps me sew a tricky part of my Design for a Cure design.  She is an expert seamstress, and I appealed to her expertise to get me through this stage. The competition is this Tuesday, and my dress is almost complete! We’re making a few adjustments to the bodice, and then only the hem remains to be completed. I’m so excited!

As for Miss Merry Melody, progress is moving slowly but surely. This past week, working on my dress, I have taken a break from Barbies, but I will return to my work corner as soon as the competition is over! I have several designs completed, and others in progress. I’m really having a lot of fun with this pageant. I’m doing different types of songs than in previous years, more in depth interpretations, and I’m also taking a new direction with the Replica portion of my collection. In previous Miss Merry Melody competitions, all of my replicas were taken from costumes worn in musicals. This year, I am still doing a couple of those, but I’m also doing theme songs from movies that are not necessarily musicals and doing a design based on a character in that movie. Fun! I’ll continue to keep you up to date on the progress!
