Hours Before……

MISS MERRY MELODY IS TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The stage is set, the designs are completed, and we will hold the pageant in a few hours. (As soon as the rest of our family/judges get home from errands. I’m ultra excited, I can’t wait to see what Grace and Claire have done with their songs, and of course, I’m looking forward to unveiling my own creations. Due to the workload from my classes, I had to carve the original eight songs down to five, but I feel like all five are really strong designs. I think it was better to make five that I really loved, and not eight that were only ok.

Of course, because this pageant is based on songs, we will play each song as the design is shown. Grace made a playlist on her mp3 player, so we can cycle through the list of songs. As this is the third Miss Merry Melody pageant we have done, it is interesting to look back at the lists of songs we used in years past. You can definitely see where our interests were at the time. The first year, we were really into a wide variety of movie musicals, and most of our entries were based on those songs. The second year, we divided the designs into replicas of costumes worn while the song was performed, and interpretations of the songs. The replicas were mostly from musicals, while we had several interpretations based on songs sung by artists such as Josh Groban and Linda Eder. This year, we don’t have as many musicals, and we aren’t doing two categories. Instead, each designer seems to have their own trends. Grace is using several songs from animated movies. I’m doing a few movie theme songs, and most of my songs are really dramatic. Claire is doing several songs from the Disney Princess collection, which lend themselves well to a Barbie pageant, of course!

When the pageant is completed, I will take pictures and get a new page and gallery up as soon as possible. Who will win? Are you as excited as we are?

Rachel
